Nauvoo Days 1 and 2

We were able to take a great family trip to Nauvoo and St. Louis at the end of May. We flew to St. Louis on Monday and then drove to Nauvoo after that. We arrived there around 7 at night and met up with Ryan's brother and his wife AnnaMarie who were going to be vacationing in Nauvoo with us. We just got settled in and relaxed before going to bed. On Tuesday morning we got up and started our trip with a stop at the visitors center and a walk around the women's statue garden. Then we headed over to the oxen ride. The girls loved meeting the oxen and Alexis even gave one a kiss.
Here are the girls with their cousins Katie (age 3) and Jane (18 months). We took a ride around a little circle and saw what it was like for the pioneers. I now understand why it would have been more comfortable to walk than to ride in the wagon. It was bumpy and there were no cushions.
A little later in the day while Alexis and Jane were taking naps we went on a wagon ride around Nauvoo. We got to see lots of the homes people lived in and of course the beautiful temple.
The temple is so beautiful and we had the perfect view of it from the wagon.
After the girls got up from their naps we went swimming and ate dinner. Then we headed off to a show the senior missionaries perform every night. It was a cute show and the girls really enjoyed it.
