Horton Hears a Ferrell

I had the girls after VBS again today so I decided that we needed to do something outside of my small apartment (5 little girls and a small apartment don't mix very well). So we decided to go see Horton Hears a Who at the dollar theater. The girls had so much fun. Before the movie started they decided to go play up by the screen since there really weren't many people in the theater. They were doing cart wheels and dancing around. They might have enjoyed that more than the movie.

Free Lemonade!

The girls enjoyed their first day of VBS and afterwards they went to Aunt Natalie's house. They were told during VBS that they would be collecting money for schools in India during the week so they decided to have their own fundraiser. They drew and colored a sign that said: Free Lemonade! Donations accepted for India Schools. Mariners Church VBS. Then they stood on the corner of a street in Natalie's neighborhood and yelled "Free Lemonade". They had quite a few people stop and get lemonade and they were able to collect $18. They were very proud of themselves and we were proud of them too. After the fundraiser we went back to Natalie's and had a delicious dinner and then the girls enjoyed eating ice cream cones. It is so fun to spend time with our family.

Fun with cousins

On Sunday my two nieces came to visit us from Arizona. Peyton and Hailey were so excited to have them come visit us. They were able to come to church with us and then they came back home to play. The girls enjoyed playing board games and just messing around. Then we went over to Aunt Natalie's house to make homemade pizza and do crafts. This morning the four older girls got ready to go to Vacation Bible School together. But before they went Uncle Scott took them out to breakfast. I hope VBS is ready for 4 energetic Ferrell girls.

We ate yummy pizza at Natalie's house.

Our Little Fish

Peyton had her first official swim meet today. It was so hot and miserable for me but she had a great time. She competed in her first relay race (before today she didn't even know what a relay was). She swam freestyle in the 100m medley relay race. Her team got 3rd place (out of 4 teams). She also swam the 25m breaststroke and the 25m freestyle. She was suppose to compete in the 100m freestyle relay but we had to leave so we could take Ryan to the airport. Her favorite part of the day was playing in the showers in between races (aren't kids great). My favorite part of the day was getting out of the heat and taking a cold shower (I think we hit 100 degrees today and I was out in the sun from 6:30 am -1:00 pm).

Doesn't she look so official in her racing suit and swim cap.

Her team is sponsored by Chick-fil-A so she has their logo on the rear end of her swim suit and on both sides of her swim cap. It is so cute to look at!

Peyton swimming the breaststroke. She was a little confused on how to do her arms (she was doing butterfly arms) but her legs looked great.

Happy Birthday Hailey!

Happy Birthday Hailey!

Claire, Hailey, Aurora, and Peyton dressed up as princesses.
Hailey turned 3 today and was really excited that it was her birthday. She woke up early this morning with her sister but had to stay in her room until 7 am. They sang "Happy Birthday" to each other about 20 times before I would let them come out. She went with me to take Peyton to school and then went to the gym to play with her favorite kids club worker Sharla. Then she came home and watched her new favorite video "Beauty and the Beast". She really wanted pizza for lunch so I took her to our favorite pizza shop to share a mini pizza. After her nap we had a small birthday dinner with Aunt Natalie and cousin Aurora and then Hailey opened her presents. She was spoiled with lots of gifts from her friends and family. Then her friend Claire came over to share her birthday cake. I made my first homemade ice cream cake and it turned out yummy. Thanks to my cousin Jennifer who helped show me how to make it on her blog. After having cake the girls dressed up in princess costumes and played. Hailey had a great day and was so happy to have a day that was mostly about her. She is such a joy to have around and really keeps us on our toes. We sure love her.

Peyton's Last Day of School

(Peyton as a monkey in her class play.)

(Peyton with her teacher Mrs. Sahyoun)

Peyton had her last day of school today and she was excited and sad. She told me that she wanted to go to second grade but she wanted to keep her same teacher. She was able to participate in her classroom play about 2 frogs in the Amazon who are trying to see the sky for the first time. She played a monkey and did a very good job. She will miss her teacher Mrs. Sahyoun but I am sure she will love her new teacher. She has 4 1/2 weeks off and then it is back to school. We are looking forward to a fun summer break.

Here is a short video of Peyton's part in the play.

Peyton's School Olympics

Peyton had a fun time at school today because they had a school olympics. I guess this takes the place of field day for the younger kids. She was able to do a 3 leg race, play cat and mouse with a parachute, and jump over a pretend river (kind of like the long jump). They did a lot of other things but I was only able to be there for an hour so I didn't get to see it all. They also had a dance contest that was fun to watch (Hailey really wanted to participate so she danced on the sidelines). Here are a few pictures from the event and a short video of her jumping over the river. She has 2 more days of school left and then a short (4 1/2 week) summer break. She is looking forward to having a break from doing homework.

Happy Father's Day

I just wanted to say Happy Father's Day to the 3 father's in my life. First Happy Father's Day to Ryan the best father my daughters could possibly have. He is so great with the girls and really loves spending time with them. This year he was able to coach Peyton's soccer team and she really loved having him there for every practice and game. He also started taking the girls on daddy daughter dates once a month each one by themselves and they have loved that. He also lets them tag along on all of the errands he runs for me and I really appreciate that. But most of all he loves us and we love him. You're a great Dad!

The second father I want to say Happy Father's Day to is my dad. He has been a wonderful example to me in so many ways. He always had family prayer with us, always read scriptures with us, and had family home evening with us most weeks. He gave us a Father's blessing each year before we started school and gave us blessings when we were sick. He always worked hard to provide for our family and tried to attend every sporting event or school activity we had. He is a wonderful grandfather to our daughters and we all love him very much.

The third father I want to say Happy Father's Day to is my father-in-law. He is such a great guy and is so generous in every way. He is always willing to help us when we need him and is willing to serve us in any way. He is a wonderful grandfather and our girls really love spending time with him. We all love you.

So Happy Father's Day to all the dads who read this blog.

Peyton's First Swim Meet

Peyton had her first swim meet today. It was only a practice meet but Peyton did really well. She competed in the 25m butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle. She made it all the way across the pool without stopping and even got second place in the backstroke (her favorite). It was a long day (I forgot how long swim meets lasted) and tiring day but well worth it. She is looking forward to her first real meet next Saturday. Here is a little video of her finishing her freestyle race. Sorry about the bad videotaping. Ryan had Hailey with him and it's not easy to do things with her hanging on you.

Ryan finally gives in!

For all of you who didn't know I have been wanting to do a blog for a while. Ryan was totally against it since he is usually in Lawyer mode and thinks that someday what I write might come back to haunt us. Well just a few days ago while I was reading my brother's blog out of the blue he said if I wanted to start a blog of my own he would be okay with it. I think I went in to shock for a second and had to ask him if he really meant it. He did! So here is my first attempt at blogging. I am not very creative so it might not be as great as some others I have read but that is okay. I'm just glad to be doing it!
(For those of you who are wondering who picked the title of our blog, yes it was Ryan. He said that he wanted to pick it if we were going to have a blog.)
